Chris Sumner
Vice President of Institutional Advancement
Chris Sumner joined KCAI in 2013 as Donor Strategy and Information Manager. In 2017, she was promoted to Director of Donor Strategy and Annual Fund then named Senior Director of Advancement in 2022. Chris has served as Interim Vice President of Institutional Advancement since May of 2023 and currently holds the position of Vice President of Institutional Advancement. Chris is a nonprofit executive with 24 years of experience in fundraising for the arts and higher education. Prior to her time at KCAI, Chris spent 14 years fundraising at Kansas City University (formerly Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences) where she oversaw the Annual Fund, served as Director of Development and then Executive Director of Advancement. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Missouri State in Communications and Mass Media.
